In the tiny village of Guialmons, in the very heart of the Conca de Barberà, this rural apartment sits in the former stable of a 16th-century country house. The refurbishment has been full but respectful with the original building: it keeps the rustic details of the period and the feel of a house with history, while adding every modern comfort.
The setting is pure silence. Cereal fields and vineyards stretching out, the Montclar range against the horizon and the small hermitage of Sant Miquel marking the distance. The sunsets and the starry nights —with very little light pollution— are one of the things guests remember most.
With space for 4 guests in 2 double bedrooms (one queen-size bed each) with en-suite bathroom, and everything on a single floor, it is ideal for couples travelling together, small families or getaways with friends. The dedicated room with a jacuzzi for 4 is one of the house’s main draws: perfect to unwind after a day of hiking, or as an evening plan with a good bottle of local Conca de Barberà wine.
Inside: one floor, everything at hand
The whole apartment is on a single floor, a layout that makes day-to-day life easy for everyone. The kitchen is open-plan and fully equipped for cooking as if at home, with washing machine and dishwasher. The living-dining room shares space with the TV area, sofas and DVD player, and opens into a dedicated room with the jacuzzi. Heating for the cooler nights and Wi-Fi throughout the property.
Outside: garden with views over Montclar
The house stands on a small hill overlooking the fields of the county and the Montclar range. The garden has a barbecue under the porch and a private parking area. Several rural paths start right from the door: one leads to the Sant Miquel hermitage, another to the church of Figuerola, and a third takes you on a nature walk all the way to Santa Coloma de Queralt through fields and vineyards — beautiful at sunrise or sunset.
Conca de Barberà: between Poblet, Montblanc and quiet countryside
The Conca de Barberà is a land of vineyards, monasteries and medieval villages in the inland province of Tarragona. It combines UNESCO heritage —the Poblet Monastery— with the cobbled streets of medieval Montblanc, hiking routes in the Prades mountains and the Natural Area of National Interest around Poblet. A great base for a getaway that mixes slow days at home with long days of sightseeing.
