Besalú stands out for its fortified bridge and 12th-century Jewish baths. Castellfollit de la Roca has one of the most photographed viewpoints in Catalonia. Olot, the county capital, offers museums, Modernist architecture, and direct access to several volcanoes. Santa Pau is a medieval complex inside the Natural Park. La Vall d’en Bas brings together small hamlets like Sant Privat or Hostalets d’en Bas, ideal for staying away from the hustle and bustle.
Four classic stops: the Croscat Volcano (the last eruption on the peninsula), the Santa Margarida crater with its chapel inside, the Fageda d’en Jordà for walking among century-old beech trees, and the Puigsacalm peak for 360º views of the Pyrenees. For something less crowded, try the Sant Aniol d’Aguja trail in Alta Garrotxa or the Sadernes area with its natural swimming holes in summer.
The most frequent searches are: houses with a pool (especially from May to September), pet-friendly houses, houses for large groups of 12 or more, charming rustic farmhouses for couples, and family houses with enclosed gardens for children. Many houses in Garrotxa combine several of these features at once.
Select your dates and the number of people in the search engine. The page automatically filters available houses and shows the total price. Those with the "Instant Booking" seal are confirmed immediately by card — the rest undergo owner validation within a maximum of 24 hours. You will receive confirmation by email and SMS with the address, owner contact details, and check-in instructions.
Yes. Use the "Pets allowed" filter in the search engine to see available houses. La Garrotxa is particularly dog-friendly: many trails in the Natural Park and almost all volcano routes are suitable for leashed pets. Some owners charge a small extra cleaning fee; this is indicated on each property page.
Olot is about 120 km from Barcelona (1h 30 min via C-17 and A-26) and 55 km from Girona (40 min via N-260). It is 50 minutes by car from Girona airport. The C-37 road is the natural entrance from the south. There are direct buses from Barcelona Estació del Nord and from Girona several times a day.
Autumn is the peak season: the Fageda d’en Jordà turns red and gold between late October and early November. Spring (April–May) is excellent for hiking with mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer is perfect if the house has a pool, though August gets busy. Winter is quiet and affordable, ideal for cozy getaways with a fireplace.
There are several indoor options: the Volcano Museum in Olot, the Cinema Museum in Girona (40 min away), the underground galleries of Bosc de Tosca, guided tours of Besalú and its Jewish baths, bakery workshops at farm schools like Mas el Bassiol, or the Olot tourist train. Many rural houses offer a games room, fireplace, and indoor children's area.
